Q: When/Where will this race be held?

A: The 2023 Alex’s 5K Run/Walk & Kid’s K will be a live event with a virtual option. The live race is on November 4, 2023. Virtual race: Run, walk, or roll anytime and submit your results between November 4 and November 11th.

Q: Will there be a virtual race option?

A. Yes. Select the virtual option at registration. Run, walk, or roll anytime and submit your results between November 4 and November 11th HERE. Race shirt and finisher medal will be mailed after the event. Please make sure you register with your correct mailing address.

Q: Do you have any COVID-19 related provisions?

A: Yes. Our top priority is the well-being of our participants, volunteers, and the members of the community. We are monitoring the situation with COVID-19 in our community carefully and will accommodate any modifications required to hold a safe event. If our municipality does not allow large gatherings and this run cannot take place in person, we will switch all to the virtual run and ensure that all receive race items whether it be by a packet pick up option or in the mail.

Q: Does this race benefit a cause?

A: Alex’s 5k Run/Walk will support three charities “Autism Speaks“, the nation’s largest organization dedicated to funding research into causes, prevention, and treatments for autism, “Avondale House“,  a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit agency that provides educational services to children with autism here in Houston, and The Westview School, a private, non-profit school for high-functioning children with autism spectrum disorder in Houston.

A: One can sign up for the race online by clicking here.

Q. Can I donate to the race and its charities?

A. Yes. You can contribute on our donation page or you can mail a check made out to Alex’s 5K to Alex’s 5k c/o BCRR,  P.O. BOX 66196,  Houston, TX 772660196 All donations are tax deductible.

Q: I am a recreational jogger/runner. Will this race be walker friendly?

A: Alex’s 5K Run/Walk proudly welcomes runners/walkers of all levels.

Q. Will there be a hand-cycle/wheelchair division?

A. Yes.  Select the Pushrim/wheelchair option during registration online.

Q. Will results be timed/tabulated?

A. Yes. The in-person race will be chip timed and race participants sorted according to time and age-group.

Virtual race participants can upload their results HERE. Results will be sorted overall and into age groups. Honor system. It is also possible to indicate participation without submitting a time.

Q: Will there be awards?

A: Yes. The live race will award $100 to the male and female Open and Masters Winners.  Awesome, unique award tiles will be given to the top 3 male and 3 female finishers in each 5 year age-group division (19 and under, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80 and Older). Awards to top male and female in Wheel/Pushrim divisions.  In addition, RRCA Championship medals will be given to: Open male and female, 40+ male and female, 50+ male and female, 60+ male and female. No awards for virtual events due to everyone running at different times and different courses.  There will be an awesome Alex’s 5K finisher medal for all registrants in addition to the race tech shirt.
